In short

Psychiatry and medication management at Counseling Services for Wellbeing gives Seattle-area adults a psychiatric provider with time for the whole picture, treating medication as one part of whole-person care rather than the brain in isolation. We accept most major insurance plans, book same-week appointments and see clients at our Green Lake, Burien and Smokey Point offices or by secure video statewide.

Does this sound familiar?

You want a real conversation, not another fifteen minutes and a refill.

You have tried to white-knuckle it, and the floor keeps dropping out anyway. Or you are on a medication that is not really working, with side effects nobody walked you through and a prescriber who renews the script without ever asking how it is going. You brace for the next appointment because you already know how it goes. Fifteen minutes, a few quick questions, out the door.

Maybe you are not even sure medication is the answer. You want someone to help you figure that out, not someone who reaches for the prescription pad before they know your name. You want a provider who looks at the whole picture, your sleep, your energy, the life around you, and not just a checklist and a chemical.

That is what good psychiatric care is supposed to be. A real conversation with someone who took the time to understand what is actually going on, and a plan built around your situation rather than the clock.

What we offer

Psychiatry for adults who want a provider with time for the whole picture.

Considering medication for the first time

You are unsure what to expect and want someone who will explain things and help you find the right starting plan.

Current medication is not working

You tried something and it did not help, or it helped with side effects nobody explained, and you want a real adjustment.

Lost your prescriber, starting over

A provider moved, retired or left the practice. You need someone who will review your history and pick up the plan, not start from scratch.

Want a second opinion or a plan review

Your plan has not changed in years and you want a fresh set of eyes on whether it still fits where you are now.

Not sure medication is even the answer

You have a question and want help figuring out what is going on, not someone who reaches for the prescription pad before they know your name.

Tired of the fifteen-minute med check

Half the slot is intake software and the rest is "any side effects?" You want a provider who actually knows you.

The entry points are different, but the outcome is the same. A psychiatric plan that fits your situation, made by someone who took the time to know you, that you can start this week.

Our approach

How psychiatric care works here.

We treat medication as one part of whole-person care, looking at your sleep, energy, body and the life around the prescription, not the brain in isolation.

1

Reach out

A short form or a call. We hear what is going on, what you have already tried and whether you are starting medication, switching providers or wondering if medication even fits. A real person from our team reviews each one before reaching out.

2

Get matched

We pair you with a psychiatric provider whose specialties fit your situation, and you see the same provider across your care for continuity. You are not re-explaining your history to a new face every visit.

3

Start this week

First appointment in person at one of three Seattle-area offices or by secure video anywhere in Washington. The first appointment is a real conversation, time enough to actually understand what is going on before anyone settles on a plan, not a rushed med check.

The method

Why a whole-person lens.

We treat medication as one part of whole-person care, not the brain in isolation. That means we look at your sleep, your energy, your body and the life around the medication, because all of it shapes how you feel and how a plan should be built, a view the National Institute of Mental Health echoes when it notes that mental health medications work best paired with the right ongoing monitoring and, for many people, alongside therapy. Our psychiatric team carries a broad range of specialties, from mood and anxiety to the bipolar spectrum, ADHD and more, so we can pair you with a provider whose focus fits your picture.

Medication as a tool, used carefully, inside a bigger picture. Matched providers so the plan fits your situation. Continuity so you are not starting over each visit. Therapy available alongside medication when that fits the work. When part of your picture calls for talk therapy, our anxiety therapy and depression therapy teams are in the same practice, so the two sides coordinate rather than running on separate tracks.

We are not the cheapest cash-pay prescriber in the city and we are not trying to be. We are the option that takes your insurance, gets you in this week, gives you real time with a provider who treats medication as part of the whole picture, and can coordinate therapy with medication inside one practice.

Frequently asked questions

What adults ask before starting psychiatric care.

Do you take my insurance for psychiatry?

We accept Kaiser, Premera, Regence, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna. Much of Seattle psychiatry is either hospital-based with long waits or cash-pay, so taking these carriers is one of the bigger differences when you are shopping around. We will confirm what your specific plan covers before your first appointment.

How soon can I be seen?

First appointments are available the same week, so you do not have to wait weeks for an opening. Much of Seattle psychiatry is hospital-based with long waits, or often weeks-long waitlists and cash-only. Reach out and we will find the first opening that works with your schedule, in person or by secure video.

What is the difference between a psychiatric evaluation and medication management?

An evaluation is the assessment that helps figure out what is going on and whether medication fits. Medication management is the ongoing care once a plan is in place, with regular check-ins and adjustments. If your question is specifically about attention and focus, our adult ADHD evaluation page covers that, and our ADHD treatment and medication management page covers ongoing care.

Will I just be put on medication?

No. We look at the whole picture first, and medication is one option among several, not a foregone conclusion. Therapy is available alongside medication when that fits the work, with our anxiety therapy and depression therapy teams in the same practice, and some people leave an evaluation with a plan that does not center on medication at all.

Do you offer psychiatry online or only in person?

Both. You can meet in person at our Green Lake, Burien or Smokey Point offices, or by secure video anywhere in Washington with online psychiatry in WA, with the same provider either way. Telehealth lets you start from home with no change in who you work with, and Spravato treatment is available in person at our Burien office for the people it fits.

Can you help if my current medication is not working?

Yes. Second opinions and plan reviews are a common reason people come in. If a medication is not working or is causing side effects nobody explained, a provider here will take the time to revisit it, look at how it fits the rest of your life and adjust the plan rather than simply renewing the same prescription.

Where are your offices?

Counseling Services for Wellbeing has three offices: Green Lake in Seattle, Burien and Smokey Point in Arlington, plus secure video sessions anywhere in Washington. The Green Lake office serves North Seattle, the Burien office serves South King County and the Smokey Point office serves north Snohomish County. Psychiatry and medication management are available at all three or online.

Take the next step

You do not have to settle for fifteen minutes and a refill.
