Plans we accept

Most major insurance plans accepted

Kaiser Permanente Premera Blue Cross Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield Aetna UnitedHealthcare Cigna Optum

We accept these plans for therapy and for psychiatry. Optum administers behavioral health for many UnitedHealthcare members, so your card may show Optum even when your plan is UnitedHealthcare. We confirm your specific coverage before your first session.

How billing works

You know your cost before your first session, not after.

Most practices leave you to guess what a session will run, or to file your own claims. We do the checking first, so the cost is clear from the start.

1

We verify your coverage first

Before your first session, we check your specific plan and what it reaches for therapy or psychiatry. Have your member ID ready for the intake call and we handle the rest, so you are not on hold with your carrier trying to decode your benefits alone.

2

You pay your plan's share

Once we confirm your coverage, you pay whatever your plan asks of you, typically a copay or your plan's share, and we tell you that number before you start. No flat mystery rate, no filing your own claims after every visit.

3

No surprise bills

Because we confirm your coverage and any cost up front, you are not blindsided by a bill after your first visit. If your plan changes something, we will tell you plainly rather than let it land as a surprise.

We do not publish a fixed price because what you owe depends on your plan, and quoting a flat rate would only mislead you. Reach out and we will give you a clear number for your specific coverage.

If you are paying out of pocket

No coverage we can work with? Self-pay is straightforward.

If your plan is not one we can work with, or you would rather not use insurance, you can pay out of pocket. We will tell you the cost before you start.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask about insurance and fees.

Do you take my insurance plan?

We accept most major insurance plans for therapy and psychiatry, including Kaiser, Premera, Regence, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and Cigna, with Optum handling behavioral health for many UnitedHealthcare members. If you carry one of these plans, your care here is likely covered. We confirm your specific coverage before your first session, so you know what your plan reaches rather than guessing, and if we cannot work with your plan we will tell you plainly.

Does insurance cover therapy?

Most health insurance plans cover therapy and counseling as part of their mental health benefits, though the exact coverage depends on your plan. With the carriers we accept, your therapy here is typically covered, and we confirm what your plan reaches before you start so the cost is clear from the beginning.

Do I need a referral to start?

Most plans we work with do not require a referral to begin therapy, though a few plans do ask for one and Kaiser uses an integrated-care model with its own access steps. We check your plan's requirements when we confirm your coverage, walk you through any step your plan asks for and never skip or replace one, so you are not figuring it out alone.

What will I pay for a session?

What you pay depends on your plan, usually your copay or your plan's share, which is why we confirm your coverage and any cost before your first session rather than quoting a flat rate. You get a clear number before you start, not a surprise bill after the first visit. If you do not have coverage we can work with, ask us about self-pay.

Do you take my plan for both therapy and psychiatry?

Yes. The carriers we accept apply to therapy and counseling as well as psychiatry and medication management, so you can get the kind of care you need without changing where you go for it. We confirm your specific coverage on both sides of the practice before you start.

Is therapy covered when we meet by secure video?

Yes. The plans we accept cover sessions by secure video the same way they cover in-person visits, so you can meet from anywhere in Washington without losing your coverage. We confirm your telehealth coverage along with the rest of your benefits before your first session.

What if you do not take my insurance?

We will tell you plainly rather than leave you guessing, and we will help you understand your options, including self-pay. We would rather be straight with you up front than have you find out after the fact, so if your plan is not one we can work with, we will say so clearly and talk through what other paths might work for you.
