Education, Training & Experience

I received my undergrad in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside. My first job out of college was as a paracounselor, advocate, volunteer, and human resources staff in a domestic violence agency and shelter in California. After that, I worked in a rehabilitative transitional agency that provided care for adults with chronic, severe, and persistent mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, psychotic, mood, and personality disorders. I then worked as a member of the Behavioral Health Integration and Complex Care Initiative team in the Inland Empire, and after my husband and I moved to Washington State, I became an Integration Specialist and Case Manager for several community mental health-based agencies, including SeaMar, Valley Cities, and Navos/Multicare. It was then that I decided to pursue my Masters of Clinical Counseling at City University of Seattle, graduating in June of 2022. My internships include working individually and within an intensive outpatient group setting treating OCD and anxiety disorders, as well as intimate partner violence and recovery in an individual and group setting.

Approach & philosophy

My approach to counseling is very integrative. I like to get to know my clients and blend elements from various therapeutic approaches to tailor our counseling journey. I use elements from humanistic, CBT, and psychodynamic theories to create a collaborative, compassionate, realistic, and safe environment where we identify and use your strengths to learn about life patterns and events that may be impacting your life today. Together we will discover new skills that incite positive change and strengthen your psychological flexibility, ultimately bringing about clarity and peace. I enjoy working with folks from all walks of life (cultures, ethnicities, orientations, secular and LGBTQAI+), 14 and up.
