I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor (NCC #685169). My MA degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling was earned from Antioch University Seattle’s CACREP-accredited counseling program. I provide counseling and therapeutic services to individuals aged 18 to 65 years, and to teens and couples by referral only.
As a multiculturally-oriented practitioner, I enjoy working with individuals from all walks of life, with a particular focus on serving persons from culturally diverse and underrepresented communities. I am drawn to this work by my personable nature and desire to help others, the need for social justice, and the value of fostering a healthy and equitable society. My areas of expertise include addressing issues related to cultural/personal identity, traumatic experience, life transition, existential concerns, and relationships.
Approach
The counseling relationship is a supportive alliance that lends itself to fostering both resilience and the discovery of new possibilities during times of personal struggle. I provide a safe, compassionate, and creative environment to assist you to regain an authentic sense of direction and live life on your terms. You are the expert of your ever-changing world, and I strive to maintain a dynamic relationship that is founded on transparency and collaboration to meet you where you are at. Together we will explore how you got here, what you have learned (and forgotten) along the way, and where you want to go next.
My approach is integrative and guided by – but not limited to – several conceptual models: Humanistic/Existential therapies, Mindfulness and Self-Compassion practices, Postmodern/Social Constructionist theories, Eco-therapy, Buddhist philosophy, Feminism, and Evidence-Based treatments. My clinical lens is trauma-informed and multiculturally attuned, and I maintain an eclectic set of interventions derived from multiple treatment modalities to best suit your needs.
Experience
My career as a counselor began with a community mental health organization serving the clinical needs of high risk/high need individuals struggling with chronic mental health issues. After 4.5 years working in a community-level capacity, I made the decision to move into a group private practice setting and joined the team here at Counseling Services for Wellbeing. In both of these contexts, I have treated myriad forms of human suffering and witnessed both the awesome power of human resilience and positive growth from difficult life experiences. It is an incredible privilege to be allowed access into clients’ secret and vulnerable realms, and I value the continued ability to develop my understanding of human experience afforded by each counseling relationship.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your goals.
